The county government of Trans Nzoia will collaborate with Kenya Red Cross to recruit more volunteers to serve at the organization.

Trans Nzoia patron and Governor George Natembeya said more volunteers are needed to help in serving the growing population of Trans Nzoia.

The governor made the sentiments at Town hall in Kitale on Monday after receiving two vehicles from Redcross Head office.

Currently,he said the organization has only 300 members serving a population of 1.3 Million residents of Trans Nozia.

A small number of volunteers he said experience a lot of challenges in discharging duties when disasters occur.

“My special programs will work closely with Redcross through a small budget that we will avail to make the recuitment exercise and retention”said the governor.

He said the newly hired security wardens will be the first to join the organization.They will undergo a training for first aid.

Present were chairman Ronald Masindano,County secretary Truphosa Amere,County chief officer for Governance Dr.Wanjala Maji Moto,his PSM counterpart Philip Kapten,Dr.Judith Simiyu of Health and Director for Communications Dr.Felix Sialo.

The governor thanked Red Cross Kenya for providing two vehicles.

One vehicle will be used within the County while another will serve the region.
